This is the worst company ive ever dealt with! Very rude and will take weeks to get in touch through email or phone.... do not use them
As far as I've been able to figure out the computer-based AS3X Programmer is just about as dysfunctional as any piece of software I've ever used. It makes the AR636 Receiver nearly impossible to program and use if any of the control surfaces require adjustment - which is typically at least one or two of them.
To begin with you are required to have all surface control parameters in your transmitter set to zero, making you wholly dependent on the AS3X Programmer. The instructions on Page 6 of the "User Manual" (a generous title reference) say you can only program the AR636 with all servos disconnected. This means you can't make an adjustment in the computer program and see its effect on the surface being adjusted at the same time. If you try to connect a servo you the receiver will disconnect from the Programmer with an "over current" warning. Two separate Horizon Support people confirmed that you must first make a change in the Programmer while powering the receiver from your computer's USB cable, then disconnect the cable, connect the throttle lead and the servo you have just adjusted, plug in a battery to power the receiver and the servo to see what effect your programming change had. I have also never succeeded in getting the receiver to perform according to the Rates and DR & E set in the Programmer.
My advice is steer clear of AS3X and go with one of the Lemon or Admiral receivers if you want autolevel (SAFE). They are much cheaper, infinitely easier to set up and include extensive user documentation.

I purchased the wrong item by mistake on eBay and after three attempts to contact Horizon Hobby to cancel my order they shipped it out anyway. I finally got a reply four days later letting me know that "Unfortunately, we are not able to cancel this order. Due to our highly automated system, once an order is paid for we are not able to cancel, change address or stop the package from shipping."
Let this be a warning to anyone out there to be extra careful about ordering anything from Horizon Hobby's eBay store, as they neither monitor nor respond to customer messages or inquiries, which is completely unacceptable.
I had a brand newDX6e transmitter that failed to wrok at all when trying to load airplanes on it. The screen went white and wouldn't function at all. I contacted Horizon and explained the problem and they sent me a shipping lable to the repair facility I received the radio back in about 8 days after they received it. It worked when it turned it on. Two weeks afer that I turned it back on and it wouldn,t function. I contacted them again and the wouldn't warrenty their work, so I sent it back with their instructions by FedX and they say they never received it but FedX shows it delivered 5 days after I shipped it. I contacted product support several times with no response. The last time I contacted them I got an e-mail that my radio has be repaired by an update mesage and I had to give them money to send it back. The message came to my E-mail with another persons name on the header. I got ahold of product service and the reply was it was my radio. I insisted it couldn't be my radio be cause my radio didn't work. They said it was mine so I gave them the money. When I received the radio I trunes it on and low and behold it had a different persons name under the registry. They got it back with a nasty note and said at the end that if they can't find my radio give me a new one. Even their customer service by phone said that sounded reasonable but at this point i still haven't heard anything back, even after ai sent another nastygram to porduct service. We have been going around for well ofer a month on this and good luck to me if THEY EVER RESPOND
After a series of quality control issues, slow customer support has finally driven me away from Horizon products.
The two stars are for fast shipping. Horizon products have been hit or miss otherwise.
Like to rate this zero stars, i bought a car it lasted 5 minutes, the engine malfuntioned it is on (back order) so some how this is my problem. They do not and have not made it right been 2 months. Car should be replaced
Every time I call this company for service there are long hold times and no body seems to know what is going on. They will flat-out ignore emails sent to their service department. They are also RUDE. They will sell you the product and disappear after the transaction like a ghost. Literally non-existent customer service. Stay away at ALL costs. Try AMainHobbies or MotionRc instead.
Not sure why everyone is Blasting Horizon but most of the complaints seem like user error. Like ordering something that's on backorder and complaining when it takes for ever to arrive. My recent experience goes like this.
One of the many RC vehicles that I have recently purchased lost a small part off the body the first time I took it out. I messaged Horizon to get a part number so I could order the parts I needed. I was having a hard time finding the part I needed using the part numbers provided in the manual. I was transferred a couple times and I even got a little upset and sent a sarcastic email. Either way at the end I did not get a part number, they just mailed me the parts for free. That's pretty darn good customer service if you ask me. They could have communicated a little better during the process, that's true...But all in all it's pretty fantastic that they did that. Thank you Horizon!!
I purchased RF 9.5 from a local hobby shop. It doesn't install with my virus checker on because the virus checker thinks it includes malware!! I get 2 clear virus warnings then it deletes the files!
Apparently, these virus warnings are false positives. Really!! I mean everyone knows that virus checkers are riddled with false positives - don't they?
The only way to complete the install is to disable virus checking then install the software. Unfortunately, when virus checking is re-enabled the files are deleted - back to square one!!
Of course I could run my pc connected to the internet with no firewall and virus protection, in which case RF9.5 would run perfectly - until the pc was invaded by malware. Perhaps I could run a sweepstake on how long it would take and maybe that way I could recoup the money I have wasted on the junk Real Flight 9.5.
The worst customer service I have ever recieved, I was made to feel stupid and a liar. After owning many of the blade helicopters, decided to buy the mcpx BL2, arrived with board issues, contacted them many times with no real help, apparently I was binding incorrectly, they just wouldn't listen to the issue at all, even with a video showing th dissue, of it shooting to the side badly from out of the box. Sent it off to a stockist who confirmed it was a faulty board, Horizon still would not help, I have now sold it for half the price I paid and sold every single horizon item I owned and would never give them a single penny of mine again. You used to be such a great company, sort yourselves out.. "Horizon Hobby, where the customer is always wrong and you're not worth a 2nd of their time"

so times have changed and it is not so easy anymore. it now takes an hour or hour and half to get a tech on the phone. i usually place the phone on mute and go about my business until i hear someone. once you get the tech they go out of their way every time to get your problem fixed. I even got equipment sent free of charge that wasn't expected or asked. because Horizon Hobby has great support I will only shop there. I've been using Horizon over a year now and absolutely recommend them to any hobbiest
